How to Change Your 2009 Toyota Sienna Temperature Display from Celsius to Fahrenheit
How to Switch Your 2009 Toyota Sienna from Celsius to Fahrenheit
If your 2009 Sienna is displaying temperatures in Celsius and you want Fahrenheit, the solution is a single button. The E/M button on your overhead panel switches your vehicle’s entire measurement system from Metric to English units in one press.
Locating the E/M Button
Look at your overhead console between the front seats. You’ll see the HomeLink garage door opener buttons. The E/M button is right there next to them. That’s your toggle.
Making the Switch
Press the E/M button once. Your climate control display will flip from Celsius to Fahrenheit immediately. Your speedometer, if it was showing kilometers, will also switch to miles. All measurements toggle at once.
What Gets Changed
The E/M button is an all-or-nothing toggle. When you press it:
- Temperature changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit (and back)
- Speed changes from kph to mph (and back)
- Fuel economy changes from liters per 100km to mpg (and back)
- Distance measurements flip between kilometers and miles
You can’t change just the temperature without flipping everything else.
If It Doesn’t Work
Make sure you’re pressing the actual E/M button, not one of the HomeLink buttons next to it. Sometimes on older vehicles the button gets sticky from age. Try a firm press. If nothing changes after several attempts, turn off the vehicle and restart it, then try again.
If the button is cracked or clearly broken, or if restarting doesn’t help, the overhead console may need replacement. Contact a Toyota dealer for diagnosis.
Metric-Only Vehicles
A small number of 2009 Siennas, particularly those originally ordered for metric-only markets, may not have a functioning E/M button or the button may not affect the climate display. Check your owner’s manual to confirm whether your vehicle has this feature, or ask a dealer.
