Holosun 507C for Glock MOS: Specs, Reticle Options, and Setup Guide
Holosun 507C Overview
The Holosun HS507C-X2 is a pistol red dot designed to mount on RMR-footprint slides—which includes the Glock 19 Gen5 and Gen5.5 MOS without modification. Built with 7075-T6 aluminum and rated to IP67 waterproof, it’s one of the few sub-$400 optics that doesn’t compromise on durability.
The Multi-Reticle System Explained
The 507C’s main selling point is its three selectable reticles:
- 2 MOA dot: Precise aiming for distance and accuracy-focused shooting
- 32 MOA circle: Fast target acquisition, similar to the circle-only reticle on EOTech holographic sights
- Circle-dot: Both reticles visible at once for versatile shooting styles
You can switch between them without losing zero. For Glock carry or competition, most shooters prefer either the dot alone (defensive precision) or circle-dot (speed and precision combined).
Power and Battery Life
The 507C runs on a CR1632 battery, rated for 50,000 hours at mid-brightness settings—roughly five years of continuous use. It also features solar failsafe technology: an ambient light sensor tops up the battery during daylight. This dual-power design means the optic stays powered even if the battery dies.
The side-loading battery tray is a practical advantage over the Trijicon RMR: you can swap batteries without removing the sight from your slide.
Shake Awake technology powers the optic on when motion is detected and off when idle, extending battery life during carry. The brightness memory feature remembers your last setting, so the optic powers on at your preferred level.
Mounting on Glock 19 MOS
The Glock 19 MOS comes with an adapter plate that accepts RMR-footprint optics directly. The 507C drops in with no modifications. If you use the factory Glock MOS adapter plate, the sight sits at Glock’s standard height. Several aftermarket plates are also available—some sit lower on the slide, potentially improving your sight picture depending on your grip and holster setup.
Durability and Real-World Testing
Field testing confirms the 507C’s toughness. It has survived 1,500-round evaluations with zero zero-shift and no reliability failures. The vibration rating of 5,000G and IP67 waterproof certification mean it handles recoil, dust, and moisture without performance loss. Reviewers note it’s robust enough for duty use, competition, and everyday carry.
Known Limitations
The brightness adjustment buttons are small and require deliberate manipulation—not as tactile as the RMR’s larger controls. The auto-brightness feature can wash out in bright ambient light combined with a pistol-mounted flashlight; in those scenarios, manual brightness adjustment works better.
Price and Value
The 507C typically retails around $360–$375, substantially less than the Trijicon RMR ($550+). For a Glock MOS platform, it delivers features the RMR doesn’t offer—solar backup, shake awake, multiple reticles, side-load battery—at a lower price point.
